Crandon is the biggest race of the year for short course, some would even say for all offroad. The track is rich with history and tradition. The course worker you see in turn one was also there 5 years ago, as is the person grading the track, and working the ticket booth. While some series have a hard time finding volunteers to help put on the race, the track and Crandon have to turn people away.
2010 Over The Hump Series #9
After a week off I was back at it again shooting the Over The Hump Race Series out at Irvine Lake. I missed last weeks race because of Lucas’s first birthday falling on the same day. For that we head up to Long Beach and hung out at the Aquarium of the Pacific. I was excited to get back out there and shoot and see what new sections OTH added to the course.
All Nascar Photographers are Spoiled
All Nascar photographers are spoiled. And any other photographers who get to shoot at facilities where there is a full dedicated media center are spoiled.
And now I am ruined for life.
I’m used to shooting in the desert where our media center is the car ride home after sitting in the desert for 10 hours. Covered in silt, sweat, rocks in our shoes, and a farmers tan only a mother could love.
2010 Over The Hump Race Series #4
“I’m on a boat!”
For this weeks Over The Hump Race at Irvine Lake, CA I decided to mix it up a little and try getting a different perspective and shoot from the water. Matt from OTH was able to get me a small dingy boat to ride around in during the race so I was pretty excited to shoot this week. With the 6pm start times the lighting is great so I knew I’d be able to get some unique shots.
2010 SCORE Baja 500
Known as the second biggest desert race in the world, the SCORE Baja 500 is a warm up race for the grand daddy of all offroad races, the Baja 1000. Held every year in June, the 2010 Baja 500 started in the town of Ensenada, and would work its way through the Baja peninsula until it finally came back around and finished where it started. This year saw a huge entry list in the unlimited classes, with 39 Trophy Trucks starting and over 20 Class 1 cars.
