Chasing the 2010 SCORE Baja 1000 – My Story

For this years SCORE Baja 1000 my assignment was to chase the McMillin Racing team. My usual cohort was the legendary Scott Smith of Paradigm Productions, and our buddy Johnny “The Slayer” Rukkas. We headed down Wednesday morning to get down there before contingency started so that we made sure we caught them rolling through tech. Luckily for us, around 5:45am Scott got a text from Beau of McMillin Racing asking when we were headed down. Beau was already sitting in line waiting for tech to start in the #31 Trophy Truck, so we knew first thing when we got there we’d be able to catch them.

Crandon Raceway – Tradition Never Dies

Crandon is the biggest race of the year for short course, some would even say for all offroad. The track is rich with history and tradition. The course worker you see in turn one was also there 5 years ago, as is the person grading the track, and working the ticket booth. For that we head up to Long Beach and hung out at the Aquarium of the Pacific. I was excited to get back out there and shoot and see what new sections OTH added to the course.

All Nascar Photographers are Spoiled

All Nascar photographers are spoiled. And any other photographers who get to shoot at facilities where there is a full dedicated media center are spoiled.

And now I am ruined for life.

I’m used to shooting in the desert where our media center is the car ride home after sitting in the desert for 10 hours. Covered in silt, sweat, rocks in our shoes, and a farmers tan only a mother could love.

2010 Over The Hump Race Series #4

“I’m on a boat!”

For this weeks Over The Hump Race at Irvine Lake, CA I decided to mix it up a little and try getting a different perspective and shoot from the water. Matt from OTH was able to get me a small dingy boat to ride around in during the race so I was pretty excited to shoot this week. With the 6pm start times the lighting is great so I knew I’d be able to get some unique shots.
