NHRA Denver Brings Flames to Bandimere Speedway

One of my favorite tracks to shoot on the NHRA circuit is in Denver Colorado at the Bandimere Speedway. Its a great location, the fan turnout is high, and you always have some great light, especially on Friday with the night session. This year we got lucky and got some nice cloud cover for the event which helped make some nice photos as well.

NHRA in Seattle Shines

For the first time I made the trip to Pacific Raceway just outside of Seattle Washington for the last race on the NHRA Western Swing. Its always exciting to visit a new NHRA track because you are forced to step out of your comfort zone. When you go somewhere you’ve shot before, its easy to get caught in doing the same thing you’ve always done, but at a new drag racing track every angle is new, each chance you take on a photo is something you haven’t shot before.

NHRA Rolls Into Denver

Once again I made the trek out to Denver Colorado to shoot the NHRA race at Bandimere Speedway with my friend and fellow photographer Mark Rebilas to cover his various clients. Bandimere is a great track to shoot at as you get a night session for Friday’s qualifying (which equals flames!), and the stands are always packed with fans. Bandimere also has a special place in my heart as it was the first time I caught a Funny Car exploding and the car body flying off into the air.

Bodies Fly at Bandimere Speedway

I got the chance to shoot another NHRA race this past weekend with Mark Rebilas up at Bandimere Speedway in Denver, CO. I’ve been to Colorado before to cover some rock crawling events and the scenery up there is great, so I was looking forward to shooting there again.

NHRA – Sledgehammer to the Chest

This past November I had the opportunity to help out photographer and friend Mark Rebilas at the NHRA Finals at the Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, CA. Surprisingly this would be the first time that I’d shoot anything that wasn’t on dirt, so I was excited to shoot something new and different. My biggest challenge would be never having even been to a drag racing event, getting used to the schedule of how things are run. Little did I know my biggest challenge would be getting used to a Top Fuel car going by me at 200+ mph only 6 feet from me.
